America is listening to Kern's anti-gay tirade

Wed, Mar 12th 2008, 14:49

After its release on Friday, the remarks made by Rep. Sally Kern have spread far and wide. Celebrities like Margaret Cho and Ellen DeGeneres have publicly condemned her speech, dozens of media outlets have reported on it and the original YouTube clip has suprassed 700,000 views.

On Wednesday, DeGeneres attempted to call Kern on the telephone and leave her a message (the mailbox was full).  Meanwhile, Margaret Cho called the clip "appalling" and has pledged her support to helping the Victory Fund get its message out.

Furthermore, dozens of media outlets have picked up the story -- both in the LGBT and mainstream press.  The audio has been picked up by the Associated Press, CNN, Towleroad, The Advocate as well as local media all over Oklahoma. Even blogger Perez Hilton has called upon his readers to take action.

The YouTube clip itself has been viewed more than 700,000 times and is, as of March 12, YouTube's 7th most-watched video.
